Transforming the Future: A Historic Alliance for Honduran Youth

At Future of Honduran Youth (FOHY), we believe that education is the ultimate catalyst for social change. On January 22, 2026, we took a monumental step forward by signing a strategic international cooperation agreement with the Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras (UTH), and the Honduras-Corea Technical Training Center.

This partnership is more than a formal agreement; it is a shared commitment to ensuring that every young person in Honduras has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Perspectives from Our Partners

This alliance thrives on the collective vision of leaders dedicated to educational empowerment:

  • Dr. Javier Enrique Mejía Barahona (Rector General, UTH): Dr. Mejía views this as a "win-win" collaboration where UTH matches FOHY’s investment, doubling the number of students who can access a university education. He emphasizes that when institutions unite, education becomes a tangible tool for social transformation.

  • Héctor Chacón (Subdirector, Honduras-Korea Technical Training Center): Mr. Chacón highlights the importance of restoring hope to those who felt their academic journey had ended. He notes that this program is a lifeline for technical students and specifically encourages mothers to pursue their dreams, proving it is never too late to learn.

  • Santiago Kim (Vice President, FOHY): Our own VP Santigao Kim shared a powerful reminder that "caring for our youth is caring for Honduras". He reflects on how a once-distant vision has now become a reality through these strong local and international ties.

Concrete Impacts of the Alliance

Through this cooperation, we are addressing educational needs at every level:

  • Doubling University Access: For every student FOHY sponsors, UTH provides a matching scholarship, creating a pathway for twice as many scholars to complete their four-year degrees.

  • High School Completion: We are partnering with Politécnico del Norte to provide full scholarships for "bachillerato por madurez," helping young adults finish their secondary education.

  • A Legacy of Success: Even before this formal signing, the collaboration was already working. Six students from various regions have already been supported—two have graduated, and four are currently thriving in their studies at UTH.

Our Commitment

From the perspective of FOHY, this alliance represents our core belief that a country advances when it invests in its people. We are honored to stand alongside UTH and Honduras-Korea to provide the resources, financial support, and encouragement our students need to build a brighter future.

Together, we are not just providing scholarships; we are building a new horizon for Honduras.
