Our Identity:
The Meaning of “Today’s Tomorrow" - Investing in the Future by Focusing on Today
In the mission of Future of Honduran Youth (FOHY), "Today’s Tomorrow" is more than a name—it is our manifesto for the next generation. This title is a translation of the Korean concept Hyun-jon-ha-neun Mi-rae (현존하는 미래), inspired by Rev. Lee Jae Chul’s book, Young Man, You Must Sow Even if You Weep.
The core philosophy is that youth are not simply waiting for a distant future to arrive; rather, they are the active subjects who create that future through the "tears" and struggles of their lives today. When Santiago began his ministry in Honduras, he applied this vision to young elementary school graduates, ensuring they were not defined by their circumstances but by their potential to lead.
The Foundation (2012 – 2019) : Sowing Seeds in Laguna Inea
The journey began in March 2013, when Santiao Met Nidia in Laguna Inea who had experienced a profound spiritual awakening from a revival. In July 2013, a significant milestone was reached when Eden Church, in partnership with the Korean Central Church of Honduras, helped build the Laguna Inea chapel, providing a spiritual home for the community. A turning point occurred in September 2013 following the tragic death of Franklin, the eldest son of Emilio. This moment of shared grief served as a bridge, allowing the people of Las Brisas and Laguna Inea to truly get to know one another for the first time. It was during this period of connection that Santiago started his bold and transformative vision in partnership with Nidia: to bring youth from marginalized mountainside villages—such as Las Brisas, Modello, Guanacaste, and others—to the city to continue their education.
Because these remote areas offered no path beyond elementary school, the "Today’s Tomorrow" ministry became a bridge to middle and high school. This was not just about enrollment; it was about providing a foundation of Practical Care and Support, including:
Spiritual Care: Grounding their lives in Christian values and faith.
Educational Care: Providing the resources and tutoring needed to succeed in a new academic environment.
Life Care: Ensuring they had stable housing, nutritious food, and the emotional support necessary to thrive away from home.
With this vision and plan, the Today’s Tomorrow ministry started with 6 kids in 2015 and grew to 10 later, culminating in a historic milestone on November 30, 2019, when the first six "Today’s Tomorrow" students successfully graduated high school.
Growth & Transition (2020 – Present) From High School to Professional Leadership
After the first six students graduated from San Luis High School, Santiago moved with them to San Pedro Sula to ensure they could reach the next level: University. Santiago secured housing near the UTH (Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras) campus, allowing him to continue providing daily spiritual, educational, and life support as they transitioned into young adulthood.
This decade of investment is now producing professional leaders for Honduras. In October 2022, Manuel achieved independence after being hired as a civil servant at City Hall. He was followed by Orlin, who graduated from UTH as a professional engineer in June 2024, and Jersin, who also earned his engineering degree in December 2024.
As of 2026, the legacy continues with two full university graduates and four additional students currently pursuing their college degrees. The spiritual and educational support system we built for the first group remains steadfast as we look toward the Next Today’s Tomorrow, ensuring every child has the tools to create their own future.
