About

Future of Honduran Youth

FOHY (Future of Honduran Youth) is a legally registered nonprofit organization established in Oregon, USA, in 2024. We are committed to encouraging, supporting, and providing resources to empower the next generation of Hondurans to become independent, responsible members of society who can serve future generations.

Our Story

Our foundation was born from the long-term vision and commitment of Santiago Kim, known as *Santiagon Catracho Cristiano Coreano*, inspired by his faith journey. Like Saul becoming Paul after encountering Christ, Santiago embraced a new purpose beyond his original Korean identity. Since his first visit to Honduras in 2012 on a short-term mission trip, Santiago’s life transformed from a life of fun to a life of purpose before the Lord. In 2015, he began supporting middle school students from rural areas like Modello, Guanacaste, and Las Brisas, helping them continue their education in larger cities. From 2019, he committed full-time as a missionary in San Pedro Sula, enabling students to pursue higher education. His ministry has produced college graduates who are socially and spiritually engaged in shaping Honduras. Alongside education, Santiago supported the growth of a local church in Las Brisas and provided educational, financial, and spiritual assistance to families in the Rio Blanco Bordo area of San Pedro Sula, strengthening both community and faith.

Who We Are

  • In 2024, marking the 10th anniversary of Santiago’s dedicated ministry in Honduras, a group of Korean American Christians who have walked alongside and witnessed his work united to establish the FOHY Foundation. While our story began with one individual’s calling, our mission has evolved into a collective commitment to ensure this work remains steadfast for generations to come.

  • We believe that true impact is measured by independence. FOHY was established to transition from a single-missionary model to a structured, legally founded organization. By building a robust professional and spiritual framework, we are "future-proofing" the ministry—making it more sustainable, transparent, and capable of expanded collaboration with Honduran local partners.

  • Our ultimate goal is to hand over the leadership of this work to the Honduran people themselves. We provide the resources and education today so that the youth of Honduras can stand on their own tomorrow, becoming the leaders, educators, and spiritual pillars of their own nation. Together, as a community of believers, we are building a foundation that does not just provide aid, but fosters a self-sustaining legacy of hope.
